Goona (Jamie), Fester (Tod) and ReeferMan (Jeff) went riding on Saturday, and this is their true story: From a wine tasting at Bully Hill Vineyards to getting stuck in a massive mudhole, Fester and ReeferMan are highly cultured/High society Red necks! A seemingly strange dichotomy - yet absolutely true. During our Naples to Hammondsport Dual sport ride on Saturday, September 8...- we stopped at Bully Hill Vineyards. Fester's favorite vintage was the Pinot Noir, which he claimed was a brawny - yet delicate - fruity wine with floral aromas and strawberry flavors. ReeferMan really liked the Cabernet Franc, which, according to him, exhibited the flavors of black raspberry and currant with an underlying floral bouquet reminiscent of violets. And then we went out and got stuck in a giant mudhole. See what I mean about the sophisticated red neck thing? UPDATE: To see a 3-D Topographical map of our ride (way cool!) and the elevation profile, click here. To start the day off, Reefer wiped out hard on this hill
and then Fester gave it a try. About half-way up, he wheelied out and flipped the
bike over backwards! What a site! I can't believe I missed the shot - it
would have been a classic. ReeferMan to the Rescue! Surveying the damage Taking time out to 'smell the roses' in Hammondsport, New York where we
had lunch at an outdoor cafe.
This mudhole was no big deal - except for one deep spot in the middle
of it. I tried to warn Fester about it, so what does he do? Stall the bike
out in the middle of it, of course! |

Believe it or not, this is actually part of a town road -
Wixom Road, to be precise. It is one of the many old roads which are no
longer maintained. This was right around the corner from the Bully Hill
Winery.
Push, Fester, push!
It was a great day of riding on pristine back-country dirt roads with incredible views of Keuka Lake and the surrounding hills and valleys as we made our way from Naples to Hammondsport via Prattsburg. We're going back there as many times as the weather permits this fall to take in the breathtaking scenery. Anyone else want to join us?
